A Bit About Gemstones
Hi thanks for reading, It's great that you are here :)
If you're looking at a Gemstone or Crystal when it's all nicely polished, takes you away from the origin it came from. I have had crystals from all over the world, and appreciate every single one. Now there are so many, it's hard to remember the names!
So, the Gemstones are mined, from all over, China, has a great many of the crystals and gemstones. Jaipur in India is another popular one for Gemstones. The USA have many places like North Carolina, where you can go on holiday and go dig your own gemstones up. (that would be fun)
The difference between a crystal and a gemstone is their 'grade'. A gemstone comes out of the dig like a solid mass, and is broken down into pieces that are usually polished up for sale as tumbled stones, they are the cheapest form. But Gemstones seem to vary in price, and the price goes up each year.
The Crystals, are Gemstones or semi precious stones, these are the top quality that are put into rings and fine jewellery. They test the hardness of the crystal on a 'Mohs' scale Depending on the hardness, that will alter the price...when you think of a diamond being the hardest of all crystals, some of the gemstone crystals are catching up. In the Gemstone world they have a crystal called 'Herkimer' and is the diamond of the Gemstones this sparkles like a diamond! (although it may have dark inclusions through it) Even Aquamarine, and Morganite (part of the Beryl family) can be so clear they look like glass...don't be fooled as it could be glass! The only way to be sure is to have them tested, or you could buy yourself a Mohs scale around £300 to £400 that's a lot of money to test a crystal. Or you could take it to a jewellers they may charge you for testing and pricing it as well.
The ''Raw'' Gemstones sometimes don't sparkle, because they are more dense but still beautiful. To use Gemstones for healing, say for Reiki, they use the raw or the tumbled stones some are cut to have point at the end of the gemstone or crystal This is called a Terminated stone, sometimes they are double Terminated. and you can buy them in this state being natural as well. They say it works better!
So how do we heal with crystals? (I'll call them crystals here to just for now)
Scientist's have come up with their findings about vibration. Everything in the Universe vibrates, we vibrate gemstones vibrate...so therefore, if we are a bit unwell we can choose a gemstone, and if it's the right gemstone it will vibrate at a certain frequency. If we are out of sorts, the gemstone will vibrate and we pick this up through our body, so we get to vibrate the same as the crystal so we get better, starting with our mood, and eventually will come out of whatever ails us. There's a lot more to it, but that is a brief overview of how we work together, interesting isn't it?
